Getting defensive: LSU lost nine players to the NFL draft, but that's business as usual for Les Miles. And only two played defense. Wisconsin lost eight defensive starters, including heart-and-soul linebacker Chris Borland.

The number: 45. Consecutive regular-season nonconference victories for LSU since 2002, the nation's longest such streak.

The talk: Unless you want to count Indiana-Missouri in Week 4, this is the Big Ten's only chance to hush the SEC faithful who mock Midwestern football.

Teddy Greenstein's pick: With a newbie at quarterback and little depth at receiver, Wisconsin will need a colossal performance from tailback Melvin Gordon.

Several matchups will unfold when No. 13 LSU takes on No. 14 Wisconsin on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff.

On today's edition of Talkin' Tigers, sports reporter Rachel Whittaker and LSU beat writer Jim Kleinpeter take you through a few that are sure to impact the outcome of the season opener for both teams.

First up, the LSU offensive line and running game will take on a raw Wisconsin front seven, and LSU's youthful defensive tackles have a challenge in the Badgers' own run game and eager starting quarterback.

Then they've got game predictions to wrap up the week - will LSU come out victorious, or Wisconsin eke out an upset under the prime time lights?
